Commodities Exchange – What Are The Major Commodity Exchanges Around The World?

There are at least a dozen major exchanges that serve as a market for raw materials in the world. Each of these specialists in certain goods, while others trade in completely different set. What follows is a brief history of these exchanges: 1) Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT): The exchange of goods was created in 1848. E ‘Crafts in leases and finance. The origin of this exchange only sold agricultural products like corn, soybeans and wheat. Now, he offers futures and options on a variety of products, including silver, gold, energy and U. S. bonds. In recent years, the CBOT has added functionality of e-commerce, which is significantly different from the previous auction open market. On 10/18/2005, the Chicago Board of Trade has offered an IPO on the NYSE. Its listed under the symbol “BOT”. 2) Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME): Another major exchanges in Chicago as well. The latter, popularly known as CME, has been in operation for over a hundred years. The main products traded are here live and feeder cattle, hogs, pork bellies, lumber, milk, butter and fertilizers. Now this is a market for stock indexes, interest rates, currencies and futures contracts on individual stocks. One of the instruments being traded are rather unusual weather derivatives. These futures contracts to speculate on time, anywhere in the world at different times of the year. 3) New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX): Moving out of Chicago to another financial center of New York, we have the NYMEX. This is one of the oldest exchange in the United States. E ’specializing in petroleum products and metals. Between these two specialties is a wide variety of options available. 4) New York Board of Trade (NYBOT): Sticking to New York we have the NYBOT. This has been found that the exchange of goods before the country. As the trade in cocoa, coffee, sugar, frozen orange juice, cotton and many other agricultural components. This detail also makes trade currency pairs as well. 5) Other: Outside of the United States there are some important trade for products such as LCE and TOCOM in London and Japan. As you can see, the exchange of raw materials are easily accessible throughout the world.
